It’s the penultimate day of the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts 33 Day Challenge and today the prompt is shapes.
I was looking back over the manicures I’ve done for this challenge and it was very apparent that I’ve hardly used green or yellow in my manicures. I love yellow, so that surprised me; but I don’t really like green at all, so there was no shock there. I set out to rectify the colour imbalance and picked out some yellows and greens and teamed them with some reds and browns that looked like Autumn leaf colours. I thought I’d do some triangles or squares on my nails with them.
Then I did a complete swerve and decided to use a dark green and mint green combination. It came out of nowhere, but I love it and think it goes really well with the white background.
I used striping tape to mark off the squares, which took me ages. Then I filled in the squares using Barry M Watermelon, a deep teal green, and SpaRitual Delight, a gorgeous mint green. I had to re-do two nails because I hadn’t got the striping tape completely flat and they had ended up looking like trapezoids rather than squares!

That’s it – just one manicure left to go. See you Friday when the plan is – at the moment – to recreate someone else’s manicure from the very first challenge.

For this manicure I’ve used:
- Base colour: two coats of Barry M Matt White
- Squares: Barry M Watermelon and SpaRitual Delight
- Top coat: Glisten & Glow HK Girl
